When visiting the city of Split, the Riva waterfront is one of the most photographed tourist attractions. It is a special place where people of all ages come together to exercise, socialize, dine and enjoy the company of each other under the big blue Croatian sky. Walking the beautiful Riva Promenade in Split is a glorious way to spend a morning or catch the sunset in the evening.

Walking the Beautiful Riva Promenade in Split

Riva

The waterfront is called something different depending on who you talk to. But most commonly called Riva. If you read about Riva Waterfront, Riva Harbour or Riva Promenade, they are all the same place.

.

A long beautiful stretch of white limestone tiles lines the space between Diocletianโ€™s Palace and the Adriatic Sea. In the middle of this stretch is an area of tall palms, garden beds and benches.

I love to go down in the early morning, before it gets full of tourists, and walk for as long as I want. Facing the sea, if I turn right, I can walk to the beaches or to Marjan Park.

If I turn left, I can walk the entire promenade, and into the marina where all of the ferries depart from.

No matter where you are, it is incredibly scenic and beautiful.

Dining

Most of the main portion, near Diocletianโ€™s Palace is lined with restaurants. These are expensive of course, but if you love to people watch, these places are perfect!

I had brunch one morning, eggs benny & a mimosa at Brasserie No. 7 and it was delicious and entertaining. I loved the experience so much.

Boat Lovers

If you enjoy marinas and all things boats, this is a special place for you. It is so picturesque seeing large craft, ferry boats, and ships, all the way down to the small fishing vessels. There is one area where the fishermen hang out, that is particularly interesting. Beside is a garden area with benches, a perfect place to have a rest.

And should you need to lay down? Well then you can! I have never seen this before, but there are public day beds! How grand! Made of wood and very clean, put your feet up and have a little siesta under the sun.

Every visitor should have a walk along this gorgeous and friendly promenade. If I donโ€™t have something else planned for the day, I find walking this stretch a beautiful start to my day.

Happy travels friends. ๐Ÿ˜Š
