I’m back in Puerto Vallarta!! From the moment my driver dropped me off, I have felt almost giddy, I’m back in my happy place. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am staying in a new to me neighbourhood, not in the tourist area. So far, I can tell you I love it! Today I went to the Tianguis Libramiento & the Saturday market that is withing walking distance for me.

Tianguis Libramiento & the Saturday Market

Where to Go

Both of these markets are beside each other. Walking around, I could not differentiate between the two. Tianguis Libramiento is on Heroes de la Patria and spreads over quite a few streets. If you can find this one you will find the Saturday Market.

Both of these markets are local. I did not see any tourist or souvenir type of item what so ever. It was refreshing to be completely immersed in the community and what it has to offer. If you are looking for a terrific tourist market, the Lazaro Cardenas Saturday market is the ticket.

This post will cover everything for sale except for food items. Food both cooked and ingredients will be showcased later. There is too many interesting things at the market to put in all in one post. Well if I’m honest, too many pictures! Lol.

Clothing

I don’t recall ever seeing as much second hand clothing as I did this morning! There were actual bales of garments being unloaded from trucks. Once the bales were plunked on a table, shoppers would gather around and wait eagerly for the straps to be clipped off. When that bale was opened, watch out. It was a treasure hunt for sure!

There were literally rows upon rows and tables upon tables covering multiple streets on both sides, just of clothing. It was extraordinary! Too bad I was not in need of any garments.

Kitchen & Household

A shopper in need of anything for their household will be able to find it here on a Saturday. From parts for appliances, to cleaning products and linens, its all available for a bargain!

Tools

No shortage of tools of all shapes and sizes here. I’m certain a savvy shopper could find just about anything they needed for their home or garden.

Miscellaneous

The variety of items at both of these markets was amazing! I was able to find incense sticks, two vendors in fact. There was a table with all things manga, from stickers to super hero capes. There were herbal medical remedies, electronics, toys, jewellery, and antiques inducing currency and coins. This was the first time I have seen antiques for sale in the city apart from one store that I know of in Old Town.

I cannot wait to go exploring another market soon. I always see and experience new things every time I venture into a local market. They are a wonderful way for seeing a community as it lives and breathes.
