I have been on location for a couple of weeks now. Exploring the area around Nessebar has been fantastic. The vibes here are great, very light, soft and free of stress. People have travelled to this area of Bulgaria for their holidays and are relaxed. Having been to 9 different beaches here so far, this girl loves Nessebar Beach the best.
Bulgarian Riviera
They donโt call this part of the country the Bulgarian Riviera for nothing. It is a stunningly gorgeous coastline, full of sandy beaches, hot tropical sunshine, warm sea water and holiday makers. Sunny Beach is definitely too much of a good thing for me. But Nessebar, well its just about perfect.
Sand
When I imagine getting my toes into the sand, it is this type. Silky soft when dry and compact enough to walk on without sinking in, when wet. The colour is a light camel brown and other than a small bit of seaweed each morning, it is virtually pristine.
With all of the people using this beach, I am always surprised how clean it is when I venture down in the mornings. I mean there are thousands of people on this beach by lunchtime. Far beyond what I like, so I am always gone by then. But seemingly so respectful of their surroundings that they take out what they brought in. I love that.
Water
Oh my, crystal clear and warm enough to bathe without having to screech and hold your breath as you enter the sea. Today the waves were quite aggressive, but almost every other day, it has been quite calm.
There is an area at the far end with a rocky pier, that has created a natural little cove. Inside there, the water is so calm, I can walk around and watch the sea creatures busy at their daily tasks. Its marvellous to watch these crabs scurry about. The white ones are larger, about half the size of my palm. Other guys in the twirly shells are small, about the size of a fingernail.
Walking
One of my very favourite things in life, is to walk along a shoreline, in the sand, early in the wee hours of the morning. Life is so peaceful, the day is full of promise. The air and breeze is crisp and having my toes in the sand and water makes me feel grounded.
Whether Iโm looking at the sand, trying to find treasures, staring out to sea daydreaming, starting my day this way feels like it was meant to be. Walking Nessy South Beach from end to end takes me about 20 minutes.
While I normally prefer a longer walk, this one provides me a chance to change things up at each end. One way I might look for treasures, then turn around and walk back, focusing on my posture. Turning around again, I might turn my attention to taking photographs or people watching.
Dunes
And then of course there are the dunes. I have made a habit of entering the beach from the dunes just about every time I visit. I have a difficult time expressing the beauty and magic I feel in this place. And Iโm not the only one.
Today, I was out the door early. I wanted to walk before the heat of the day got a hold of me. I was in those dunes by 7:30am. When I reached the top, I saw a beautiful sight. A group of people, dressed in white, were slowing dancing as a group. They had soft music playing, it sounded Greek, and they were slowing moving their bodies in unison as the leader was chanting to the music. Facing the sea, and dancing in the soft silky sand dunes as the sun rises, well, I just donโt know what to say. It was simply beautiful to witness.
