The four main neighbourhoods in Sayulita are North End, South End, Gringo Hill and Downtown. I have previously posted about my discoveries in the North & South Ends. Today I went into the Gringo Hill area and walked around exploring in more depth. What I found was the best views from Gringo Hill in Sayulita right at the top of the hill.

Gringo Hill is the neighbourhood where the north American immigrants built their bigger and permanent homes decades ago when Sayulita was a lot more quaint and a lesser known destination.

Streets

The streets are a mixture of dirt/sand and cobblestone. The area is one huge hill so there is not really any area that is flat for any length of time. I was either climbing up or down the roads, rarely traversing from one flat area to another.

A few of the streets looked almost western, very clean with home made street signs, posts, and parking spaces marked with signs. Definitely a more established neighbourhood by western settlers.

Casaโ€™s

The houses in this area are mostly concrete block construction some with brick additions and dรฉcor. Most of the homes are on the larger size and many have high concrete walls as fences so really not any way to see the grounds, just the portion of the home that is elevated above the wall.

There is one large condominium on the hillside, but mostly the houses seemed to be single family residences. New construction is happening here and there, but not to the extend as it is in the North and South Ends.

Because the area has some age to it, there is quite a range and style of homes. It was not uncommon for me to see a large beautiful casa and across the street would be a humble unadorned small concrete structure.

View

The views from up on the hill are gorgeous. Depending on what road you find yourself on, your view might be of the Sierra Madre mountain range, the valley or the beautiful pacific ocean. The houses on the very peak would have magnificent views from all sides.

This neighbourhood is definitely worth a walk around if only for the views themselves. There was not a lot of vehicular traffic, so it was a nice easy and peaceful walk and area in that sense. A lovely morning jaunt for sure.
