Its everywhere. ๐ Any visitor to this country is going to see shops selling weed where ever they go. Personally, I do not imbibe, however I have really enjoyed seeing the creative signs, logos and store fronts at each destination I explored. Here are some fun signs of weed in Thailand.
Smell
Currently, marijuana is legal in this country as it is in my home country of Canada. Where I am from in BC, a small ugly town, there is no mistaking its use. Just about everywhere I used to walk, I was inundated with the heavy thick aroma. So heavy is this smoke, it seems to linger in the air for hours.
As a customer service rep for the latter part of my career, I could smell it on customers as they entered our facility, almost blossoming off their person, the smell is that pungent. I became quite sensitive to the smell that made me feel unwell and nauseous.
In Thailand, I hardly smell it at all. There are thousands of dispensaries here, as many as 3, 4 or 5 on the same block. Yet the evidence is no where to be found. Of course I have caught a whiff once in a while, but it is rare.
Shop Fronts
Weed store fronts in Canada are very understated. If you couldnโtโ read the language, you might not even know what the store sold. There is no mistaking dispensaries here. ๐ Owners have fun with their signs, and I love to see how creative some of them get.
Most of these shops are small, a little table out front and a counter inside. There are however, some huge businesses with beautiful lounge areas and the like.
Chiang Mai
My first destination in Thailand was beautiful Chiang Mai. This is where I was initially inundated with the liberal amount of weed shops. I knew it was legal, but had no idea the sale of it was this prolific. I quickly began to collect photographs of my favourite logos and shops. The graphics being creative and colourful.
Phuket
Leaving Chiang Mai and mainland Thailand, I travelled to the island of Phuket way down south. Initially in Old Town, there is no shortage of weed stores here either.
Beaches
Of course, the beach areas are where I thought I would see the most dispensaries, and I have not been disappointed. There are any number here, but equally I would say, to other parts of the country. Some owners feel the need to compete with their neighbour, out do them so to speak with bright and fun signage.
Weed is everywhere in Thailand. If you are looking for it, you will only have to walk half a block, in any direction, and you are sure to find what you are looking for. I have even seen it for free! Yes a joint for free, if you book a tour. ๐
