To start this journey, I have come to Mexico once again. Mexico is my happy place. I feel welcome here, embraced by warm sunshine, big bright blue skies, friendly people and a slower way of life. Slow enough to enjoy small details, slow enough to really taste your food, slow enough to listen to the birds and slow enough to calm my racing mind.

The flight from Canada was a little delayed, no big deal. It meant a later arrival into Cancun than planned but my shuttle service with Happy Shuttle was waiting for me, yay!

I’m on day two now in Puerto Morelos. Yesterday was spent familiarizing myself with my neighbourhood and walking to Chedraui for a big grocery shop. I went to the location in the colonias and found everything I needed to fill my kitchen.

Today I walked to the The Beach at Puerto Morelos from the colonias and was greeted by silky soft white sand and turquoise water. Walking from the colonias to the beach side town is 3 kilometres on a nice stretch of sidewalk. On either side is jungle and mangrove. Found out it was not a good idea to step off the sidewalk to take a look or a photo, even if you see a gorgeous white crane in flight that would have made a beautiful image.

The beach side is quaint and has some fun looking cafes and restaurants. Christmas decorations were set up in the square and down the three streets, so I’ll come back in the evenings to see them aglow. Also, real Christmas trees for sale!! Wow!

Can’t believe how lucky I am to be here. Adios amigos.
