Always on the lookout for a good market, I was curious to see what this one would be like. From the research I did, it sounded like a mixed bag, and what many people refer to as a ‘car boot sale’. It is a 45-minute walk from where I am in town, not as far if you are already staying on the west side. Sundays only, I found the best deals at the flea market in Torremolinos.

Getting There

Locate the city’s bullring, and you will have found the right spot, its that easy. The entire parking lot in front of the ring is utilized as well as the smaller streets leading to the facility. Nearby is a very large and newer Carrefour which includes a small mall, should you wish to do more shopping.

Antiques

Always a favourite for me to see in any place I travel to are the antiques. I especially love the local items.  These large bull riding posters and beautiful old pottery caught my eye right away.

This day I saw lots of other bits and bobs and quite a lot of furniture too. Most of these dealers are set up on tables that line the main road in front of the bullring. The vintage collectibles were numerous and fun to see, bringing back memories as they tend to do.

Food

Off to the left now, visitors will find vendors with large areas full of all sorts of fresh produce and dried goods. The Thursday market will have far more of these items, but if you are here on the Sunday, you are in luck. Look at how beautiful and fresh everything looks.

New Items

Beside the food and walking towards the ring, you will find the vendors with new items. These include clothing, handbags, shoes and kitchenware. One vendor has a huge selection of colourful baskets, I love the smell of those natural fibres.

These aren’t new per say, but there is a stall that only sells used military gear. Find clothing, boots, bags and all the accessories here too.

Boot Sale

By far the largest portion of this market is the ‘car boot sale’. This is in true flea market fashion, with people driving in, laying down a blanket or tarp and covering it with items they are wishing to sell that day. I used to frequent something very similar in Canada.

This section will take you hours and hours if you wish to see everything. There are piles of clothing going for €1 or less. Many shoes, loads of electronics and even more of tools. If you are in need of anything, anything at all, you might just find it here.

This is a thrifter’s heaven. I could spot the dealers right away, having a scurry about the place trying to find a treasure before the next dealer spotted it. Glad those days are over for me.

The Sunday Flea market begins at 9am and closes down around 2pm. I was there for the first couple of hours and by the time I was leaving, it was beginning to get crowded. Come early for deals and if you are looking for something specific. It’s a fun outing on many levels and I enjoyed my time here thoroughly.
