If there is a beach to be found in any destination, I will be the one to find it. 😁 I feel my absolute best at the beach, near the water, exposed to the big sky and horizon. Beside this beach is another attraction though, so a two or even three in one! A visit to Rinku Beach & Premium Outlets is a day full of adventure and fun.
The Beach
Osaka is indeed lined with beaches! Who knew? One never ever sees or hears of these beach areas on social media. Rinku Marble Beach was a definite destination for me this day.
I walked from my hotel, and soon discovered myself traipsing across a large body of polished white marble stones. It wasn’t’ the easiest of walks, but hey, I was heading for the water.
Clear and cold, yes of course I took my shoes off and had a wade through. 😂 It was lovely, even on an overcast day. The stones were not easy to walk on however.
Rinku Marble Beach
This beautiful bright beach is not what you will typically imagine when you think of the word ‘beach’ but it is non-the-less worth the trip. There were so many groups of young adults and families all enjoying little picnics and snacks at the waters edge. Sharing giggles and visiting each other without any electronics or phones in sight.
Up near the road is a wide concrete path to have a run or brisk walk. Here you will find a few restaurants and cafés. Beside this is a beautiful natural trail through a Japanese garden, that parallels the beach for quite a distance.
Rinku Premium Outlets
The largest premium outlet mall in western Japan featuring 210 stores. Now I don’t usually write about malls and such. Having my life limited to the contents of one suitcase, I rarely purchase anything, but I had to see a big Japanese mall.
Every store you could want was here, Nike, Adidas, Tom Ford, the Gap, Arc’teryx, Armani, Birkenstocks, Coach, Fendi, Guess, the list goes on. Even a KitKat store, only selling all of the exclusive flavours that Japan is known for. How fun!
This mall is easy to navigate, only two floors and built in two rows with a courtyard down the centre. There is a food mall, where I tried an adventurous dish of raw seafood, that was amazing until I added the fish broth. 🫣😣
Rinku Pleasure Town
If that isn’t’ enough to keep you occupied and entertainment, hold on, there is a massive ferris wheel here too! Located as part of the ‘Pleasure Town’ a space filled with arcades, games, and discount shopping, is a huge wheel, that once up in the sky, will overlook the KIX airport on one side and the city on the other.
The Rinku area is an untapped district in Osaka. If you are a shopaholic, beach lover, or have kids with boundless amounts of energy, this is the perfect space for you to explore. The closest metro is Rinku Station, a quick 6-minute walk away from the outlet mall. Osaka has no limits when it comes to things to see and do.
