I had done a little research before travelling to Bulgaria. One of the reasons I chose this city was because of the local street art scene. On my walk-a-bout town on my first full day, I had a taste of the street art in Plovdiv and was rewarded in so many ways.

A Taste of the Street Art in Plovdiv

The Colour

I am really vibing with the colours of this city. I am back in the land of unabashed use of bright and vivid shades of the rainbow! From the clothing in the store windows, to the street wear, my eyes are filled with colour.

And the street art is no exception. Many of the pieces I have seen so far have been full of life and vibrancy.

Subject Matter

Wow, what a large assortment here. From cartoon characters, to faces and landscapes. I am so curious to see what I will find every time I round a corner. I have seen Disney characters, astronauts, food, buildings, animals, insects and faces both human and not.

Kapana District

In the Kapana neighbourhood, a larger and more concentrated compilation of street art can be found. From tiny little pieces to the entire sides of buildings, it is everywhere you turn.

Having only explored this area on one morning so far, I can’t wait to return and peek into every nook and cranny.

I have only had a small taste of what Plovdiv will offer as far as street art and graffiti. What I have seen excites me and I’ll have my eyes peeled to find as much more as I can around this beautiful city.
