I’ve been feeling mixed these past couple of weeks. On one hand I reflect on how lucky I am, being able to explore this big beautiful world. On the other hand, I am missing my children, something fierce. It’s a Happy & Merry Christmas 2023 but one with a big helping of aching heart.
At Home
In Canada, this month would have been a stressful one for me. Even though the kids are grown and carrying on with their own lives, I still find Christmas a stressful time of year. There is a lot of expectation and pressure in the west, to enjoy the season to the fullest.
Decorating one’s home, shopping for anyone and everyone. Baking cookies (never a hardship 😁), purchasing all sorts of delicious things for friends and family to eat. A lot of money is spent during the month of December, that in itself is a tremendous hardship.
So, I don’t really miss any of that.
But I do miss the kids.
Luck
I think I am the luckiest person in the whole world. I have been so fortunate to have three children, and all are incredible humans in their own right. Busy building their lives and struggling in this world, they continue to shine as best they can.
Each is unique, each is equally special and I cannot imagine my life without them. They are my rock, my anchor, and all I hold dear in life.
I really struggled as a single parent, raising them. Life was harder than I ever imagined. I actually don’t even know how I am still here; truth be told.
But them. They are me. My heart. My life.
Merry Christmas to my dear children and your partners. My every wish goes to you this day. May you be filled with joy, small wonders, peaceful hearts, resilience, strength and love.
