Iโve got you covered. I took a Jadrolinija Ferry to the Island of Brac and spent the day exploring the ancient village of Supetar, swimming in the Adriatic Sea and dining on fresh fish! If you are looking for a great day trip from Split, this is easy, totally doable and doesnโt break the bank.
Getting There
A short 50 minute ferry ride from Split to Brac on Jadrolinija Ferry Lines for only โฌ5.44 each way. Using either ticket booth in the Split harbour, simply purchase your ticket and head to the berth. The ferries are super clean, nice and the ride is smooth sailing.
Supetar
The ferry docks in Supetar harbour. I explored this ancient peaceful town, first wandering into and around the church and then through the tiny alleys to the east and west.
I walked around to St Nicholas cape, where there is an amazing cemetery and old church built in 1673. If you have never explored a cemetery, I encourage you to try with this one. It is serene and full of beauty. Many of the tombstones have been made by a famous Croatian artist, Ivan Rendic.
Banj Beach
Perhaps a two minute walk from the cemetery is Banj Beach. One of the islands prettiest beaches, the entry depth is gradual but rocky. Most people had beach shoes, however I did not, went in barefoot and it was just fine!
The water was cold, I hear it is currently 18 degrees Celsius but like usual, once you are in, it feels amazing.
I set up on the shore with my towel, bag and snacks and had such a nice time, people watching, reading and gazing at the crystal clear turquoise water.
Food
After my lay in the sun at the beach, I went to a local restaurant called Jure. I was craving fresh fish and that is exactly what I had. Starting with a refreshing Croatian beer on tap, I progressed to a plate full of sea bass and hot fresh fries. The fish was perfectly cooked using only olive oil, lemon and salt. Oh my, was that ever a good meal.
With a full belly, I meandered my way back to the harbour, walking along the esplanade. The Supetar marina is very picturesque with fishing boats bobbing in the water and large sailboats moored further into the harbour.
After I purchased my return ferry ticket, I sat in the sun waiting to board. This was the perfect day trip for me. Not rushed, just easy peasy, wandering around a beautiful old town, swimming in a new place, and eating delicious fresh local cuisine.
